Homeschool Supporting Scripture

Here are just some Scriptures that support homeschooling. This is not intended to be an all inclusive listing but just a taste of what the Lord has to say about our responsiblity (and the father's primarily) to training up our own children in accordance to His teachings.

Psalm 127:3-5 "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."

Deuteronomy 6:6-7 "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

Proverbs 1:8 "Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and forsake not your mother's teaching,"

Psalm 78:4 "We will not hide them from their children, but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might,and the wonders that he has done."

Ephesians 6:4 "Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."

Joel 1:3 "Tell your children of it, and let your children tell their children, and their children to another generation"

Isaiah 54:13 "All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children."

Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it."

Hebrews 12:9 "Besides this, we have had earthly fathers who disciplined us and we respected them. Shall we not much more be subject to the Father of spirits and live?"

Proverbs 3:1 "My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, "

  1. This list is not just a homeschooling list primarily, but rather a compilation of verses that describe in a wide scope the overall duty of parents (dad's particularly). Homeschooling is an evident, even obvious expression of these, if we expect to fulfill the entire essence of the commands. Just a praying for our children, loving them, our obedience to scripture, homeschooling is a critical part of the overall picture! Great stuff
